• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

image.jpg image.jpg Are there any instructions on oiling this clock? I took it to a clock shop and they automatically assumed that it would need a movement. She tilted the clock and tried to get it to work. It made me suspicious that she would tilt it. She sold me oil and said to try and oil it. I brought it home set it on my mantle and it's been working since yesterday. Keeps good time. I just figured I should oil it since its 50years old. Any websites or instruction videos showing how.

The movement is a floating balance by Hermle, the more knowledgable will tell You the exact year of manufacture per ser.-number.These movements often suffer from the "plated pivots disease" in which case it is indeed advisable to obtain a new mvmt. since they are readily avaliable and the cost of refurbishing these run-of-the-mil-mvmts.by far exeed the price of a new one.In case like Yours-if it is running-You can put a tiny bit of clock oil-not W40!!-on each pivot in the front and back plate. You have to pull ot the mvmt. to get acces to the front plate.Don't put any oil on the balance,it needs none!Only the pivot of the anchor and the escape wheel. If You want to run it on a every day basis, try another shop to have a real look at it.
