Hello everyone,

My newest is a Sessions (a 40 dollar eBay find) that I received from Wisconsin today. It strikes the 1/2 on the bell and on the hour on the coil gong. Does anyone happen to know the age? Other than being filthy it seems in good shape.

Also it seems like the spring is really long? Or maybe I’m just used to barreled springs and they all look big to me!

Is there a good source for printable Sessions replacement faces that anyone could point me to by chance? I’d like to try to clean it but I’m afraid I make it worse.

Following is a photo from the Sessions 1915 Catalog showing one similar to yours. The one below differs from yours in that it has block feet and blocks on the ends of the columns. Perhaps these are artistic license. The mainsprings do not appear long. Typical for this type of movement is 96" long.

Perfect! Thank you so much for your time looking and posting that. At a minimum I know I the date range and using a cost of living calculator on Google it is interesting to see it cost the person who bought it paid the equivalent of $170 back in the day! Using the reverse in the calculator shows I got it for a song at a 1915 equivalent of $2 bucks ( if those calculators are correct)!

I'm dissembling/cleaning today. Oh and thank you for reassuring me on the spring. I was in the process of letting down the springs on a 30 hour John B. Owen mantle at the same time and perhaps the relatively tiny, innocent looking springs on that one skewed my perception!

Wishing you a great weekend!

Jess, I have a sessions clock very similar to yours. They are very nice clocks that keep good time. I picked mine up on a local auction site. A little cleaning and oil and it’s been running fine ever since.

Wow, it seems there were several similar cases created that are almost the same with very subtle differences. Strange since overall they ARE so similar. Wouldn't think they would bother with so many variations on a rather simple style.

Here's mine now, got it going fine and replaced the face temporarily with a home printed dial until I find one I'm satisfied with.

I was surprised about how hard it was to get the plates back together with all the spring loaded levers. There were cuss words aplenty as I tried to get the maintenance cam wheel adjusted without them jumping out on me...again and again! Just that one extra lever in the way for the bell strike made it a royal pain as well.

It is a nice, simple, and pleasant sounding clock.
