Hello. Got this sessions clock and noticed I’m potentially missing a piece.
pictures I’m posting.
1st one is image I pulled off the internet and others are my clock.
Question is the horizontal brass arm is missing from mine, what is this piece for and is it vital to running of the clock?
It’s running well now after a bath and new oil.
Many thanks.

That is the calendar spring unit that allows the calendar wheel to move at midnight but also holds it in place the rest of the time.
Hi thanks for responding.so the calendar aspect of the clock won’t operate correctly without it ? It seems to be a brass piece with nothing else attached

Can’t tell from the internet photo but the solid piece is supposed to have a spring attached that has a curved end that fits between the teeth of the wheel.

Yes I see a pin or something in the bottom of the brass plate. Like the calendar feature of this clock. Wonder if this would be a tricky piece to make

It looks to be in two parts. If anyone has close up pics of an original one that would be great thanks

All you need is something against the wheel (usually the upper teeth) that prevents the wheel from free wheeling or turning backward.

Would it need a bit of tension behind it also? Like spring steel mentioned above ?

Just a thin piece of springy brass would work. A slight bend at the end would keep it from binding. You don't need a lot of power there.

I recently ordered a complete Sessions Calendar fit-up from Mile Hi Clock Supply part #79.454 cost $11.25. Proper fit and solved my problem.
