This is a Sessions 933 Cottage? Clock.
How and what do the two wood pulleys shown here do?
How do I repair?
Assume there are cords?
What do they attach to?
TIA Dennis

If the clock is actually running as the picture seems to indicate, then someone has replaced the original weight driven movement with a spring powered movement and the Pullys no longer have a function.

OMG! I never thought about that!
Thanks
The clock appears to run. The suspension rod had been yanked off.

I would say yes.
AFAIK, That style clock was gone before the Sessions Co. came to be (1903).

You should be able to see the two mainsprings on the big wheels. If it's running without weights then it has been replaced for sure. If you wanted to restore it to the correct style, you could probably find a donor clock. There would be strings running upward from the main wheels, around those pulleys you show, and a weight would hang from each side. It would likely be a 30 hour clock, requiring winding every day. An 8 day would require a harder to find movement, and heavier weights which would also be harder to come by.
In the current state, it has lost originality, and would not be desired by a collector. But if you like it, enjoy it for yourself ;)

I'm a newbie to this stuff.
The labels inside the clock read"No 933 eight day strikes hours on two chimes Sessions Clock Co"
Another label says "Movements made by Riley Whiting, Case made by William Whiting."
The movement is stamped "Sessions Clock Co"

Interesting marriage. Riley was a maker of wood movements for tall case clocks and shelf clocks. He died in 1835. William was his cousin and also, apparently, his agent. The dates in Spittlers and Bailey's Clockmakers and Watchmakers of America, suggest they collaborated ca. 1830/31 to 1835. In any event, the Sessions movement and label are out of place in this case, which may originally have been a column and splat (splat now missing). Sessions did not begin operations until 1903. I don't know what the No. 933 clock was, possibly a tambour, which could place it in the 1920's or 1930's.

Nice information, Steven!
In your recent photo's, dennis, we can definitely see the mainsprings. According to what Steven has added, your case is probably the valuable part of the clock. Finding an original wood movement is going to be a real challenge if you decide to try restoring it ;)
