Anyone have ideas/info/value about this nice long case. It is in running condition.

Wow, that's a nice one. It's not ancient, but does look like it may be 100+ years old. The real issue is moving it. Are you prepared to properly prepare it for shipping? You will find more buyers in a large market place who may be willing to pay for shipping. But the reality is that you will pay the shipping cost by taking a hit on the price. I'm thinking you could expect a price close to $1000 in a "pick it up here" situation. Check with the local antique market places. Take a few pictures with you and get some offers. See if any appeal to you. Keep in mind that they will expect to be selling it at close to double what they are willing to pay, so use that as a measuring stick for value.

could you have picked a worse hand position to take a picture? I guess it says Walter Leighton , Montrose.

His dates are listed as 1830-1860 which is exactly the dates I would have suggested for the dial. though the case would point to the last third of that range perhaps.

Thanks for the insight....we actually bought this a while ago and love it. We are keeping it! Just curious about opinions on current value.

Value will depend on where you are but won't be a great deal. More in Montrose I imagine.
