Scottie TX Memorial Give Away #1

To celebrate the memory of our good friend Scottie Texas, I am launching a clock give away. To stir interest in the Message Board, Scottie would occasionally give something away. I hope this give away is only one of many to follow.

    The Rules:
    1. The give away will begin with this post and will last approximately seven days. The give away will close at 5 PM Mountain Daylight time on Saturday the 12[SUP]th[/SUP] of March. No entry will be accepted after that closing. The winner will be announced soon after the close of the contest by our honorable judge.
    2. Mr. Peter Lee (Leeinv66) has graciously offered to be the official judge. The judge will announce the winner and will coordinate everyone's entry.
    3. The winner will receive the clock free and with freight prepaid soon after the winner's name is announced.
    4. Each participant will pick one number between 1 and 100. Only one number will be allowed per participant and no two people will be allowed the same number. After the closing of the contest, the clock will be awarded to the person with the number closest to a predetermined number (winning number). That winning number will be revealed to the judge for his tally only after all of the entries are in and the give away has closed.
    5. Post your number choice as a response to this message so that it becomes a part of this thread.
    6. Any ties will be broken by the judge and the method of breaking a tie will be at the option of the judge. The judge will have absolute power in settling any disputes and his decisions will be final.

    The Clock:
The clock is a 30 hour Welch Cottage Clock. From a partial label on the rear of the case it is "Empress." Some of you may be familiar with this clock from a post on the clock repair portion of the NAWCC Message Board.
    See:https://mb.nawcc.org/showthread.php?131477-Shoddy-repairs-on-a-Welch-30-hour-movement).
Amazingly enough, the clock does run but has been the victim of shoddy repairs. The movement strikes the hour on a cup bell. The clock has a faux mercury pendulum. Although I cannot put a date on the clock, it seems to be quite early as it has pinned movement pillars. As you know, the Welch Clock Company was purchased in a leveraged buyout about 1903 by The Sessions Clock Company. The case is rosewood veneer and the clock has the original tablet with wavy/bubbly glass. What you see is what you get. There are no warranties, either expressed or implied.

Best of luck to all. Let the fun begin!

Great idea Dick! Since I don't have the equipment or skills to properly restore this clock, and since I am very adverse to parting out essentially intact clocks I'll go with "00" :cyclops: Good luck to the Winner!

I am not a collector and only joined this great forum near the end of Scottie's contributions. However I would like to honor his memory and assistance to all. I'll go with "101".

Oh and if I win I will ask Peter to give it to the next qualified winner. Congratulations to all.

However, I have received a lot of help over the last few months from various people on this forum and hope to become knowledgeable enough to contribute some day.
