Just picked this up at an estate sale. It seems to be well preserved, little if any cracking of the paint and it still has vibrant colors. The bottom block seems to be wrong and needs a pin but that can be corrected. It appears to be plate 1279 and is the "R R" or Remington Rand version...no maintaining wheel though. I'm guessing then early 1950s. First time I've seen the columns have exposed brass vertically. And check out the dome...an original dome with the Remington Rand sticker. Really well preserved.

The escape wheel turns briskly when operated by hand. It might just need some dusting off before going up on the shelf!

    Nice one Kurt.

I've seen the same clock in burgundy on ebay years ago, stripes and all.

Thanks! I have a burgundy (maroon?) one but the columns are brass with scroll work on them...the pendulum is unpainted and the base is unpainted and appears to be original. It's not a Remington Rand model...build date of 10-52. I guess there were all kinds of combinations of colors, brass, etc.??

This new one is running strong.

a verry nice and original clock, realy a rare bird, congrats! Usualy these movement have a date code besides the RR on the back plate (like mine,I have several RR´s) ,this one obviously not.Would there be a special reason for that? perhaps John might know?

Thanks! John posted info about the RR stamp and dating here:

    #49 schatz new old stock

Looks like RR stamped clocks were shipped from Germany with a destination for the US and date stamping didn't begin until late 1949. The clock in the above link was also RR stamped but no date on it.

Very nice clock! The paint is in much better condition than I usually see!
