Hello forum.

A long time ago I posted a thread about the San Jacinto Tower Clock of Beaumont. I found this neat video on youtube about the restoration, that Texas County Reporter made. I thought yall' might enjoy it.

Note: The clock is no longer running because of hurricane Ike.

History:
San Jacinto Building was built in 1922 for the San Jacinto Life Insurance Co. It is 15 stories tall, and with the clock, the height comes to about 250 feet.
Each dial is 18 feet in diameter.

Enjoy!

Reagan, do you know what damage was done to the clock by the hurricane? I know E. J. quite well and it's not like him to give up on something like this.

Mr. Hubby

The fix is quite simple, but the owner of the building is well... I can't use the choice words here :D
E.J. has some sore feelings against him.

The problem is two minute hands have fallen off, I am not sure where they are, but E. J. knows someone that could make the hands. The owner of the building apparently in no rush to fix it though... Also, a pin holding one of the shafts was sheared. Not long ago I went up there to see it, and the bldg manager started it up. All in all, the clock still runs well, they just dont run it in fear that something else might break.

I hope that it gets fixed soon, downtown Beaumont is not the same without it.

Thanks, Reagan
