LEO, sans pictures it's pretty difficult to make a call on the wood. Is it blond? Dark? Walnut is a popular ( no - not poplar) wood for clocks of that type - oak perhaps, another. The movement is very probably a HERMLE or Hermle spinoff made in Germany. Very nice movement. You may want to consider servicing it - clean, lube, etc. or having someone do that. Even with the best of care in a clean home, servicing is always a consideration. Your clock very probably plays the "Westminster" chimes. Does it have a lever for selection of other airs? Some have St. Michaels and Whittington also. CONGRATS ! Your Idee Fixe has commenced.
