mikrolisk suggests that the logo is for Regulatorfabrik Germania, "RG". A search of the forum seems to suggest other logos for the company and maybe ties to Gustav Becker.

I cannot imagine where the title to this thread came from (Roche Grubber) but to avoid confusing future research, perhaps a moderator could alter it.

In 1899 the company was merged with Gustav Becker.

    Indeed!

My fear is someone in the future will read this thread and Roche Grubber will become the undeniable name for a Regulatorfabrik Germania clock.

To avoid all confusion, Roche Grubber means absolutely nothing.

Roche is the French word for "rock" and grubber is, at best, one who exterminates grubs, the lawn pest. It does not translate from German to the Grubber Brothers.

    Regards.

It gets better and better, doesn't it? And to think that Roche Grubber were 'proberly' in the top three 'makes' and all these years I never knew that.

Sometimes I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

    It probably will. Oh dear.

But I have also read where people tell you that the RG stands for Gebrüder Resch (never mind that the initials would be backwards) and Gebr. Resch were never in Silesia.

Might Roche Grubber be related to......oh no, they couldn't be. Could they? Yes, I fear they could, Resch Gebrüder might well be garbled into 'Roche Grubber'.

    I say again, Oh dear!
