Hello collectors,
I an curious as to if anyone knows if reproduction hands are being produced for some of the more difficult hand types that are unavailable through the normal channels. I have been looking everywhere for a moon sweep seconds hand for 16s Elgin and have only been able to find a spade type .Anyone know if someone makes these hard to get parts. Thanks, James

Said in a very respectful way :):):)
You have just started looking, it may take 3-6 months of searching but you can find one.
I have waited a year looking for parts and they always eventually do come up for sale. To my knowledge
there isn't anyone making American PW hands that I am aware of. But again I do believe
there are many out there but it will take time to source one.

Have you put a want add in our area?

I will leave this thread here for a little longer then I will move it over to watch
repair where someone there might even have one.

James,

At one time I had a good selection of sweep second pocket watch hands, but alas they were among some items stolen from a storage locker several years ago.

As Rob suggests: keep looking. Parts are still out there.

Thanks Greg, if you happen upon one, keep me in mind. Sorry about your storage locker theft, suprised they didnt have security cameras or better security there.

Small mountain town, no fence, no camera. It happened when I was in the process of moving. The perpetrators apparently were looking for regular tools (worth next to nothing to me). But they did abscond (probably by accident) with my hands' collection (including some terrific Louis XIV gilt ones). Oh well. Life goes on.
