Your watch is NOT a 19th century watch. REMEX is a modern name. In Canada, the name (as recently as 1985) was owned by a company in Malton, Ontario. These watches usually have unjewelled, pin lever movements in them. I wonder if you were sold a story to set you up for an expensive repair. I doubt the person who worked on it could make such a mistake as to call it antique.

You have a modern watch! The REMEX name was owned (in Canada) as recently as 1985 by a company in Malton, Ontario. They imported inexpensive, unjewelled, pin lever movements and fitted them into cheap cases. I doubt the repair person could have made such an error in calling your watch a 19th century, German made watch, unless you were being set up for what might have been an expensive repair.
