• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

Quartz movements

I have a question and I don't mean to be sarcastic, but why would anyone want to pay big bucks for any wristwatch that has a quartz movement? Wheather it be a Rolex, Patek or Tag-Hauer. Harold's dilemma in the previous post is just one reason not to buy one these watches.

Wayne,
I understand why you would ask that question. This is my personal take on the matter and I'm sure I am somewhat influenced by my horological interests----Although are some very good and high dollar, well established companies making quartz watches--If I pay(what I consider high dollar for a watch) it will have the look of a piece of art to it with the back off i.e. gears, levers, jewels etc. and most likely an auto wind configuration. I own several quartz watches of different value but none I consider high dollar and probably paid too much for these

I've wondered the same thing. Part of what contributes to the price of watches like Patek, Rolex, etc, is the automatic movement........I think consumers that aren't watch geeks just want a watch with a certain name on it, and could care less what's on the inside......
