Does anyone know of, a USA source, where one can find proper quality bells for 18c clocks with out having to order from Whitechapel Bell Foundry in England? I am aware that bells need to be turned and tuned.

These are the dark looking, almost iron in color, bells, with the beautiful and slowly decaying tone. I think 75%brass and 25%tin and some secret sauce, I am sure, to boot.

I hate to ask this, but has any one ever tried to fix a small bell, just under two inches, with a small piece missing, which is affecting sound decay rate?

Have you tried searching Clock Bells USA on the net?
It brings up at least two companies
There may be more buried in later pages

If not both whitecapel (though not in whitechapel) and Taylors, both send to the USA and it is much cheaper than sending stuff over here from the USA.

Bell metal is 76/24 brass/tin. It will be a whiter or silvery in color. More like what you see on French clocks or bracket clocks.

I would think you can find a suitable bell on the well known auction site..... or

You can PM me if you like.
