Hello. I want to post in the What is your Clock Worth forum. I logged into the forum and went to my Personal Details page and checked the appropriate box (I've forgotten its name) and saved it, but I still couldn't post in the forum. I went back to my Personal Details page and the box that I had checked before is no longer there. I've logged out and in to the site and still can't post in that forum. Can you help? Thanks.

The checkbox disappears once you have checked it because you may not uncheck it.

For technical reasons you must post somewhere else before your first post in the What is it worth forums. Now that you have done that you should be good to go. Here is what the screen will look like after you click on the Post New Thread button. You will not see the logged in as... of course.

Thanks. I don't recall it saying anywhere that you had to post in another forum first, but it seems that I've done this anyway so it all worked out. I've successfully posted my question.

It is rare that anyone posts a value question without posting anything else first. Normally visitors want to know something about what they have to get an accurate description and those discussions are much better in the regular clock and watch forums.

Someone runs into your problem with first post about once a year or less.

There are two preliminary steps before one may post in the "What is it worth?" area.
    1. You must make a post in some other forum as your first post. Most people would not notice this requirement because they ask an identification question or some other introductory post.
    2. You must agree to the rules of the forum, which differ from the rest of the site. You have to agree to have your value questions visible to any other visitor to the site. i.e. you need to agree to publicly discuss values. The check box for that requirement is in your personal area https://mb.nawcc.org/account/personal-details. Once you have agreed the option disappears because you are not allowed to change your mind later.
You have already satisfied the first requirement so you only need to follow the link above and check the "agree to discuss values" checkbox.

Did he post before, or after he wrote the above message at 6:45 this morning?

How about that! We fixed the problem within microseconds after he first reported it, but he did not notice for 1 1/2 hours. :)

I try to spend a little bit of time in the UK and Australia every day even though the times reported here are for the eastern United States.

There's a way to match the MB post times to your time zone. Check for it in your settings area.

Note that the times are consistent. They are held in a universal format and displayed according to your preferences. The delta times between events are always accurate regardless of the actual times displayed for a given user.
