Hi. For the past 24 hours I have been unable to access the message board from my Windows 7 64-bit PC. The PC works fine on all other websites, including the NAWCC main site. I can however access the message board using my iOS smartphone, even going via wi-fi using the same router as the PC. I’ve rebooted both PC and router but to no avail.

    Anyone else experiencing this problem?

    Phil

It sounds like a problem with your browser. Do you have another one to try? If not, it would be worth installing on to try.

But if all pages of the NAWCC website, and every other website, still work with my current browser (Chrome), why won’t the message board work? :(

But you were right, and I'm baffled. But thank you. I can access the MB using Internet Explorer, as I'm doing just now. Goodness knows why I can't get in using Chrome, which I have been doing for years...

It may be an issue with your cookies. Try clearing them and try it then (cookies are small markers that help browsers find things, and can be used to track activities, etc. Many uses.)
I know that Leeinv has also run into problems occasionally due to the time difference between our countries. When the board needs to be shut down for a while, it usually happens at night here, just when you're trying to access it ;)

Thanks. I’ve tried clearing all cookies, but it hasn’t cured the problem. So I’ve reported it to Google, as it seems that only the Chrome browser is affected.

    Many thanks for the advice,

    Phil

Chrome is not the same Browser it used to be. Google is all about collecting information and have made changes to Chrome to further their interest. I don't know if "Cookies" and such are at the bottom of your issues but I've had problems with Chrome recently too, especially with one Extension in particular.

Here's an interesting article on changes in Chrome: https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2019/06/21/google-chrome-has-become-surveillance-software-its-time-switch/

Maybe contact Bruce Linde for Tech advice?

Thanks, Bruce. To be honest, I’ve virtually given up using the PC for anything other than printing. This is yet another example of a PC wasting far too much of my time, rather than doing what I bought it for.

I am now experiencing the same issue as Phil, except my PC uses IE. I cleared the cookies, etc., rebooted the computer and still no access to the MB. It was working earlier today.

    Any suggestions?

    Regards.

Not only did Chrome block my access to the MB, it has now stopped me logging in to my AOL e-mail account. I am currently getting round this by using IE to access e-mail and the MB, and Chrome for most other things, as IE is pretty awful as a browser. There appear to be no such problems with Safari on the iPhone.

Clocks obey the laws of physics, which is why I like them. Computers don’t, which is why I hate them!

I use Firefox. It's free, and does a good job for me. Click on the Firefox link at the top of the page to get the browser.
