• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

This is a power station clock to monitor AC power frequency, similar to the Henry Warren master clocks. Looks like it may be a prototype. The red second hand is driven by the AC clock, the black second hand driven by the mechanical movement. A time switch operates a motor to wind the mechanical movement. The time switch looks like it is made from a self winding f movement frame.
I could not find any information with a google search, the label says D R Clack master clock.

That is a very solid, well made movement. Never heard of the maker. Could have been made up by the power companies electrical engineering workshop.

(In the days with local stand alone power generation)

These systems were used as differential clocks, so over a 24 hour period, the power station had "generated" the correct amount of cycles.

50 or 60 x 3600s x 24h.
4,320,000 cycles for a 50 Hertz system.
5,184,000 cycles for a 60 Hertz system.

and keep synchronous clocks showing the correct time. The master clock was kept within very tight tolerances.

It's got a telechron rotor - I wonder if this clock was made by D.R. Clack?
