I have a hard enough time getting one mechanism going, and getting all three running took some fiddling. From a distance in almost silhouette, the 9 ounce weights looks like they change shape. An earlier incarnation used lead ball fishing weights, one side painted black, the other side painted white.

Using weights instead of main springs?

You'll have to put your video on Youtube or some such and link to it here. We don't have video capabilities yet.
Thanks, Kevin. I missed it ;)

OK. It finally worked for me too. Wrong program trying to play it I guess.
    Interesting substitution for the pendulums.

No serious timekeeping was ever intended, these are sad orphan movements that I decided to "play with" for my own entertainment value. Most lacked "front work" anyway. Though, I suppose if you were to match the weight of the original brass ball pendulums as close as possible to a found object like a rock, it might work. Variables like suspension spring thickness and length would have to come in to play, and it's beyond my skill set to calculate that. Perhaps a hole drilled though and with a threaded rod attached to a bottom block, and a nut on the bottom of the rock, you might be able to regulate after much trial and error.

Next, perhaps convert a spring barrel to a weight driven arrangement, and use a rock weight to drive it, matched to a rock weight as pendulum might be fun. Even with diamond bits or diamond core bits and a drill press, making holes in rocks is not so easy.

Here's a test with fishing weights, about 20 ounces each, and a Nissin with "shiny object".

A large Swarovski crystal near a light source would give an interesting effect.

So now I'm searching through my house looking for interesting items to use as a pendulum on one of my 'parts' movements. You may have created a new trend..

There was a thread on here a few years ago about a 400 day clock that was converted to a weight driven clock. That one was interesting too.

I brought the clock down and was dusting the base when my wife picked up the pendulum and it slipped from her hand. The finial on the pendulum popped off. I glued it back on, but it's a tad off-center. So I have to try again. Also showing how I regulate the clock.
