Hi there,
Newbie here ... I opened a pocket watch and was a little stumped by the fact that I cannot seem to take out the movement. I've mostly looked at American pocket watches, this one is Swiss (or swiss fake). Maybe it's entirely commonplace to not have the movement be removable, I just wondered. I do see a screw at the bottom of the case. The bezel is also not removable. The dial does seem to be enamel based on the crack? The case resembles Niello but I don't know if it is. Any ideas on this? I managed to get the balance off and the stem out, the staff looks good with my layperson's eyes. That's as far as I got, my rather cheapo screwdriver immediately let me down on the smallest screws. Waiting for the Bergeon to arrive to continue.
It's an openface about 8/0 in size. Sterling silver case, not runner (doesn't wind). Thank you for any input you can give me.
