Does anyone know of a web site that will provide specific information on various types of pocket watches that is similar to the one for Elgin Pocket Watches?

Hi FEH:

American Watch Co. (Waltham)
You can find out some basic facts about a Waltham watch by entering the serial number on the movement (the "works") in the field on the <span class="ev_code_brown">Serial Number</span> link accessable from the NAWCC Information Storage website.

Hamilton
To find out about the Hamilton Watch Co. see Tom Watkins’ Hamilton Website.

Factory descriptions of some Hamilton watches may be viewed in the 1912 Hamilton Hand Book (courtesy of Duke University's "Emergence of Advertising in America" website).

Howard
Pictures and some catalog information on Keystone-Howard watches can be viewed at the excellent E. Howard Watch Co. website. Additional pictures and more information can be viewed at Howard Pocket Watches 1858-1930.

South Bend
Frank Kusumoto's excellent South Bend Website has a ton of good documentation on the company's watches.

Good luck,

I have just put the Hamilton Grade by serial number print outs on our web site at http://www.pocketwatchsite.com/hamiltongrade.html.

A special thanks to Kent Singer who provided the scans a few months ago. The scans just went up today (it is still the 14th on the west coast!)

If you need Illinos information, Dr Russ Snyder has put together an excellent Illinois database on CD. I believe these are still available for a donation.
