It has a good condition label on it and the gong sounds nice. It says Seth Thomas so I’m persuaded this is a Seth Thomas. Is this any good?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. A lot of people tire of this style of clock (Or mechanical clocks for that matter). Not particularly rare, made around the depression and a style quite common it's worth what you paid for it. Restored, would be worth more based on desirability of someone who admires this particular brand and style of clock.

It also has one of the last generation 89 movement, which was very durable and reliable.

It has a good movement. Not a bad clock, will last a long time when cared for.
