Please welcome Dave Coatsworth to the role of Tools Moderator.
Dave brings a lot of experience to this area. I know he will work to energize this unique area of interest. Here it's not the clocks and watches that are of interest. Here our interest is in the tools used. Join in, show us your items of interest. Ask your questions.

Thanks for taking on the Moderator role Dave.

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone! I think, over the past year or so, I've come to the realization that I enjoy collecting tools almost as much as collecting watches. In my own repair work, I am always looking for the 'better mousetrap' that was discovered many years ago and long since forgotten (and, therefore, hard to find) for lack better financing or marketing on the part of the company that produced it. I also love a good mystery tool search! I look forward to many interesting discussions along these lines, as well as discussions on the basic tools that we use in our repair work on a daily basis.

Hello Dave, good to have you aboard. I see you're from Camarillo; that's a pretty area. I used to live in Santa Barbara years ago.

Welcome, Dave. Being an ex-auto mechanic, I know about looking for the shangri-la of tools. I have more useless tools, valve adjusting tools from the '40s for flathead V-8s, a brake resetting tool for '74 Vega rear drum brake adjusters, used 2 times, haven't seen a Vega since, a neat spring loaded screwdrive like thing for adjusting valves on a stovebolt chevy 6 while it was running, etc. I have picked up some strange watch tools along the way in the past couple of years but love them just for the engineering that went into them. Looking forward to your input and help.
