Hi there, complete noob in the pocket watch scene.

I recently bought a pocket watch for my 3-piece suit im marrying in.

I was wondering its origin, who made it and what materials. Is it original and everything you guys can tell me about it.

Here is the info:
Movement: The Angus
Jewels: States 15 Jewels on the movement

Any info here is welcome. Who made it, when and would I be put in an English watch?

Case: Dennison watches cases co. LTD STAR quality
Serial: 819266
Inner stamp: "26" over an "O"
bezel stamp: 9266 (Probably repair stamp?)

There are no trademark stamps that I can find.

Any info is welcome, thank you very much.

Hi Davyb, the movement in your watch was made by Revue Thommen in around 1920. In cal 30 hunter configuration. There may be a "GT" logo under the balance wheel or behind the dial. The case is gold filled. which is a process of sandwiching a core of base metal, probably brass, between thinner sheets of gold, top and bottom. The metal is then rolled continuously until the required thickness is achieved. Your case was guaranteed not to wear through the gold layer for ten years. I know nothing of the "Angus" name, but have seen a few. Maybe someone will have more on that. It looks to be in pretty good condition and should be a fine addition to your attire on your big day.

It looks like it's in nice condition for wearing to your wedding. It will look good at the end of a nice gold, or gold-filled, chain. Two things that aren't important, but arguably notable, are the facts that the 10-year case doesn't have a lot of gold to go before it gets through to the base metal. Don't be surprised if you can see wear-through areas after the watch has sat for a while. I say this because sellers/jewelers, will usually buff gold-filled cases out to the point of where you can't see the areas where the underneath metal showing through. These areas start to "magically" appear after a while. If you're lucky, the gold layer will be intact. For your purposes though, it shouldn't be a big deal.

The other minor issue is that it looks like a brass bushing has been used in the place a jewel once was. This is at the upper third-wheel pivot. So the watch may actually be a "14 jewel". It is also possible that Angus had a beef (Sorry.) with conventional jeweling, and hid one somewhere else. All in all though, being a real vintage piece with mechanical movement, and presentable case, it's a great one for your stated purpose. Enjoy. Cheers.

Yeah it looked really buffed, no fingerprints.
But the watchmaker is a well known and respected guy so im hoping its fine.

I see what you mean. Will have to compare to another Angus to see if thats original or not. Im really happy with it, with the price I payed for it. I cant complain. So no beef from me with with this Angus ;)
Thanks for the info.

Any other info is welcome people. Maybe someone can tell me what its worth. Im curious about that too.

Thanks!

Good, it will be a fine watch to wear at your wedding.
I find that liking what you bought is probably the most important
part. Enjoy the watch.

That means Calibre 30 (the layout of the movement) hunter (a case with a front cover) configuration.

What would the "GT" stand for?
Gedeon (or Gideon) Thommen, the founder of Revue Thommen.
