    it has no markings but the dial looks French maybe?

    Yes, very likely French.

    It is definitely French, probably late 19th century, although with a good quality modern platform escapement. Time only, but nice filigree decoration, and will look great when the brass case is polished and lacquered.

    Thanks for the replies fellas. I saw it today in a shop and I am not sure if I will buy it. I do like it though!
