There is no National Silver Company on it.

No pendulum. The description said "disc, glass dome (no glass dome) so I was hoping the disc was in the box, but it wasn't. I have a Kern(I think) that I'll use for now. Do you think it had a disc or 4 ball?

Hubby's notes dates this plate from 1923 - 1927. Nice looking features, especially the columns.

It should have a much fancier (engraved and painted) ball pendulum. Not a disk.

You see in this picture but the balls are engraved with radial lines from the centers of the tops and bottoms.

I guess the Kern will have to do. I've been cleaning up the movement, all looks good. the base was painted. Someone chipped a piece to have a peek. The paint will have to come off, no saving it. I'll look closer, but it's old and dark. I like the pillars too Kurt, pretty fancy.

Think I need to learn a new skill, paint. Most of the gold is rubbed off. The base looks like it was done with a brush. The framework around the dial brightened up some when I cleaned the nicotine off, but a lot of the gold is gone. The pillars I'll leave alone, just cleaned them. Sure like to get it close to what it was. As it is, it will be in a corner out of the light. I had a place for it next to the Schlenker/Posner, would have looked great, but it needs work.

Rub n Buff is not what I hoped for. Tried it on the base after I got it stripped, not just a small part, the whole base. Didn't like the color. Tried to buff it to get that shine, didn't shine til I got to the shiny brass. After I get done stripping it again, I'll spray it with gold tinted lacquer. The framework around the dial is what it is. It was running, without the hands, the hands stop it. Got to work on that.

I wish it showed as nicely as the Schlenker and Posner, it needs so much. But it's running, fast, I need to thin the spring or wait til I get the right spring.

I'm going to try to find a match for the paint around the dial. Do you think the front started out like the paint on the back. To me the back paint looks too bright. Looking at the pictures they look real close though.

Didn't post my last, so this is a few hours later. Is it what you would have done? Probably not. Could I have done a better job? Yup. Am I going to do it again? Nope, I think it looks pretty good. Lovely young lady at Michaels helped me find the perfect match for color. Stuff is from France, so it might be the same color.

Change of plan. Got work to do. I like how it looks, but I want it as close to the original as I can get it. Now I think the framework was the gold color of the chapter ring. When I cleaned the base, I went through layers of various colors, dark red, yellow, but at the bottom was a dark brown chocolate, and nothing would take it off except Brasso. No way to be sure. But for this gold, I like it, but it takes away from the dial, I don't think that was the intent. The dial was made to stand out. So, paint thinner and Q-Tips. Check back in a couple weeks!

I'm getting this pendulum tomorrow in the mail.

It looks like this mentioned above. Not exactly the same, but closer than the Kern I have on it now.

A friend of a friend is an artist. I'm wondering if she could paint mine using orange/white rather than pink/white. The column in the center is easy, it's just like my columns. I'm hoping a Schatz standard hook will go on this.

Never mind that. I got the pendulum. A Kundo hook went right on. The patina matched the rest of the clock, so I'll leave it. I'll clean the base up....soon. Keeping time on the same suspension spring I had on there with the Kern pendulum, and it's keeping time with no adjustment.

I just remember seeing them years ago while browsing. Maybe I'm just imagining, but I thought I had seen them. Maybe they weren't JUF, but I think so. Been a long time. Now that I think about it, I know I've seen them. The green one stands out in my memory. And I don't think it was a square dial, more rectangle, and probably wasn't JUF. Call me crazy!

So the base is chrome, not brass?

Could be.Is that a JUF. I seem to remember a trapezoid shaped dial. The green sunburst was quite brilliant.
hey ken do you think the paint you removed from the base of the clock when you first got it was done by the factory or an after market type job? one other piont of interest wot colour is the underside of the base ?thanks Brett .

That's the one! Is that a JUF?

Don't think so. All JUF and Schatz clocks tend to have specific features of the base that are not on that clock. My guess is that is is a Kundo...the hands suggest it but hands can be used most anywhere to some degree.
