• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

I won this last night, I was the only bidder....so is the brass movement a deal breaker or what? Anyway, it's due on Saturday. But I'm going to take a guess and say this is a Herr, based on the finials, the partial plate, and the Schatz style pendulum. What say you?

Obviously, the images aren't good enough to see the details. What is the logo on the left of the plate? Could it be plate 1159?

So nothing on the other side of the guard? If not, then it's probably 1159.

Yes, you are correct! I missed again. Don't know why I didn't notice the blank right side, looking at other stuff I guess.

Yes, I would. Just hit the report button on your first post and request that a Moderator change the title to what you want.

I've got a chrome clock just like this - brass movement but everything else is chrome. It's a Hermle, plate 1103.

The seller said "nickel plated", is there a difference? Are there nickel and chrome? If so, how do you tell?

Yes, there is a difference. Nickel plating looks a little warmer than chrome plating - it has a slightly yellow tint to it as compared to chrome, which is very bright silver. I don't know how one would tell the difference unless you had two plated items sitting right next to each other.

Thanks Mark. This seller has an excellent history of getting these clocks to their destination in one piece, dome and all. The dome looks to be original. Even with FedEx. If it doesn't survive, we'll know it's just me!

Nickel plate hasn’t got the same shine as chrome will post pictures of the two side by side later.

So my future clock looks to be chrome, except the pillars look yellowish like the dial. Guess I'll just wait and see.

Got the clock already. I'm impressed with the packaging, FedEx can't even wreck it. Only charged $15 from NY to FL. I'm impressed. The pendulum is missing a pin. They are black, I have a spare Kundo I can get one from, but they are brass. Guess I can blacken it somehow. Nice thing about chrome, not a lot of elbow grease to clean it up!

You say the pendulum has a pin missing, it looks like screws to me, and it looks as though the eccentric bush hasn’t been messed with, glad it turned up in one piece.

It is pinned at the top, and screws on the bottom. I just made one out of brass, no one but you and me know. Looks like it's running, we'll see. What a pretty clock. That dial is perfect. It had an "over wound" copper colored ss. The lube has turned to glue. Doesn't look like anyone has been into it for some time.

Yes, most of it anyway. The dial and pillars are a bit yellow, looks like they were meant to be like that. Did they combine nickel and chrome plating?

The dial is probably aluminum. Older clocks may have had silvered brass dials. The pillars should be chrome, as well.
