I don't see these clocks very often. I know they made a regulator simular to a Seth Thomas #2.

What other models did they make ?

Robert, they had a complete line of mantel and wall clocks. Made their own cases and movements.

No big regulators, but they made a Vienna looking wall clock (the beaver), and a few models of floor clocks, just time and strike. I don't think they made any Westminister clocks. They had a lot of mission style clocks, including floor clocks.

The website below always has a few Pequegnat's for sale. They will give you some idea of types made. The stock changes from time to time. They are a Canadian Company.

Caution: I have no stake in this website or the sale of its clocks. I am posting this for information purposes only.

Skip's is a great collection, indeed. Some familiar styles to this American, but also some nice variations.

    Hello Robert,

Pequegnat Clock Co. was located in Kitchener Ontario (1900 - 1940 approximate dates). It was the most successful Canadian clock company. The company made a wide variety of mantle clocks and several wall versions (both weight and spring driven). Cases were typically oak; it made its own movements and cases.

There was at least one Bulletin article and one book about the company.

My wife and I visited a Pequegnat clock collector in Canada and was amazed at the variety of clocks the company produced - he had at least 100 different examples and was still looking for other ones.

They are popular with Canadian collectors and US folks living near Canada.

Older Pequegnat clocks will have labels indicating they were made in Berlin, Ontario. This dates them to before 1916, when Berlin changed its name to Kitchener (a reaction to WW1).
Their first manufacturing venture was bicycles, with their company called the Berlin and Racycle Manufacturing company, in the mid 1890's. They continued manufacturing bicycles after getting into clocks around 1904.

Harold, thanks for putting a name to my "John Doe". Last year at the regional in Fort Mitchell I was chatting with a gent from Canada about this and I told him I would send him a pictue. Well, as it always works out, I lost his e-mail address:mad: Hopefully he will read this post and know that I didn't forget.

    Thanks again

I have an Pequegnat. The dial is the same as Jim's but does not have Pequegnat written on it. It is blank. I suppose this is possible. Would this date the clock in any way? I believe this is the 'Ontario' model.

    Regards,
    Joe

Joe, does the label say Berlin on it? I can't make it out. It is the Ontario.
The dial looks right and original.

It does say Berlin. That the dial does not have Pequegnat on it is somewhat of a question or maybe a concern to me. Perhaps an earlier dial that they had not printed their name on yet? They had to start somewhere.

Joe, some have the name on the dial and some don't. I don't know if that is a feature to help give a year of manufacture. You should send Skip Kerr an email to get his opinion on this.
