• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

Hi folks,

I'm hoping someone here might recognise this movement and be able to tell me whose it is. The only 'S.S. & Co' I'm familiar with is Stauffer, but this logo of the large letters within a horseshoe shape isn't one I recognise at all, and I can't find it detailed in any trademark indexes. The movement name is a bit odd too; peercee !! Again I can't find this registered as a trademark.

The watch itself is a 1935 silver tank shaped wristwatch. A very nice piece but I would like to know whose it is!

Thanks!!

I suspect that it is Stauffer, Son & Co

Based on the fact that they made watches named Peerless and also Peertone, so Peercee fits the pattern.

It is more than likely marked under the dial-side. Looks AS.
Hi, new to this but...shcuaffer and son co. We're a Swiss maker but opened an office in London. They imported high grade movements I.e. IWC, Fontainemelon and Eterna. The IWC movements were marked with 3 triangle and the other 2 with Peercee. I'm pretty sure what you've got there is a Fontainemelon who made lovely movements before being swalled up by ETA.

Hi he'sawrongun, and welcome to the forum,
...shcuaffer and son co. We're a Swiss maker but opened an office in London.
There's more information on the various Stauffer companies here on David Boettcher's website. You've picked up on a 13-year old thread here, but it's worth resurrecting.

Mikrolisk shows the Peercee name as registered to Stauffer, Son & Co. in 1936.

Regards,

Graham

Please don't worry about it, the subject is interesting and probably new to many people here, so keep on posting!

Graham
