I was going through some of my older wristwatches and I was wondering if anyone knows what the dog laying down on the watch movement is for. I have only seen it on a few Cymas. Also was wondering about the case. It is a hinged cushion case and isn't marked Cyma. It also has multiple numbers including the 83H on the bottom.

Not a clue, but my first thought was Egypt and the sphinx.

It does look more like a dog despite the fact that it is sitting/laying in what I'd call the sphinx position. It still has it's nose.
The movement was a basic movement used in this style from around 1925 to 1935. By 1945 it had been improved further and been made shockproof with Cymaflex.

I have a couple of other watches with Trusty on the case, but this one is fairly different with the face in profile. I do think it is a reasonable answer. I just haven't seen it on a movement either.
