Cuckoo Old Cuckoo Winding Repair or Replacement Part Help

hi, my old Regula has some type of spring wire wound around the shaft for the time winding sprocket/gear, it is broken so the chain moves in both directions freely. To get to it, a bushing and then the winding sprocket/gear was removed. I don't see or think there is any click to stop when winding, only this spring? It looks like the spring also acts as a bushing, maybe it expands inside to prevent the weight from dropping? Can this spring be replaced (where would I find one) or can I wind one, and how would I do this? thanks for any help

The spring simply grips in one direction and slips in the other direction.

The springs were once available as a replacement part. AFAIK it will have to be made up now. Annealed piano, or piano wire worked hot, can be made to work. You will need a mandrel slightly smaller than the arbor to wind the new spring on and make sure you get the 'wrap' in the right direction.

I just purchased the springs that you are talking about, for the same repair. Timesavers sells them for $1.00 each. Part# 10567 for left time side & Part# 10568 for right strike side.

wow, was not expecting to find the part, just ordered, thanks! Although part of me was looking forward to making the spring...
