I know I saw one in a thread somewhere here but I can't find it. If you have a Log dial watch could you please post a picture?

One of the ones from this weekend is a Trenton with what John seemed to say was an O'Hara dial but he seemed to put a question mark by it.

The Log Dials are for woodsman of the world -a fraternal / insurance group that has still survived , I do find it odd that most are found on columbus watches , posibly a promotion to members ? check out their tombstones !

I guess the company catered to the quality of the brands. Your Columbus is DS with extra ornamentation to the seconds and a red number chapter. Columbus was a more pricey watch than a Trenton 7j. On mine the single sunk is a impression instead of 2 different sections and no extra for the seconds or red chapter.

I am not so sure that they were specifically for the one fraternal organization. The old Elgin material catalogs show dials like these for many Masonic groups, too.

I think the wood theme is just a coincidence. I also imagine that other dial works made these, aside from O'Hara. Here are two smaller ones that I have - a 6-size Columbus and a 4-size Illinois. I have no idea who made the dials.

Would love to find #1181. Log numbers and a locomotive. But yes, seeing that the log numbers could be with the Oddfellows, KoC, Masons, etc would indicate that they are a font rather than a image for one orginization. That said , there is still the possibility that a fraternal organization may have been the originator of the font to begin with. No matter what though, it is one of the most interesting style if numbers.
