This here is a nice sounding wall clock with an Odo movement. There is 8 chime rods and 8 hammers. Any more information? Thanks.

I really like this clock.I cant see in your pics, is there a chime selector? I have one similar and it plays westminster. Also i think, when these clocks chime they spund louder like a grandfather clock.

A box regulator made by Fabrique d'Horlogerie Odo SARL, most likely from the 1940's. Chevalier, Orleans was a retailer of which several have come and gone over the years. The gong block is not original, the Odo patterns were never shaped or painted like this. It looks like something from a Vedette clock.

That's the right type of chime rod block for an Odo. Typical Odo chime rod layout with loud steel rods for the Westminster chime, quieter bronze rods for hour strike chord. A clever setup and tends to sound great.

The gong block looks like what you'd find on a clock like this. Interesting to note is the 4 brass rods for the strike and 4 steel rods for the chime. A more strident chime sound with a more mellow strike.

These clocks have been seen for sale, going on prices anywhere between 200-400 dollars depending on condition. Clock values are entirely subjective, they are not set in stone like some clock and parts merchants would have you believe.

A very good price for this clock. Clocks as a hobby are not so much about money as it is about enjoyment.

I just want a scene of value in my clocks. I won’t sel these for a while. I probably won’t enjoy my hobby if all I have was korean clocks.

    Hi,

Thanks for taking my advice about the individual posts. You made a shrewd purchase - as I said to you in my previous response, the clock dates to the 1930's and has an attractive Art Deco case. Chevalier à Orléans is the retailer. I also said that the Vietnamese market is very keen on these clocks, so I have seen this model bring 400 to 600 euros here in France (approx. $450-700 US) thanks to buyers from Vietnam.

    Regards.
