I am in need of one of these stems that uses a collar for a customer's watch. The thread diameter is 3.17mm. Square would be for an 18-size watch. (As you can see, the square on this one is badly worn.)

Re: Need 60hr. motor barrel screws (3) for Bunn Special

Well, it came off an Elgin, but these are generic stems, not specific to any particular watch manufacturer.

Re: Need 60hr. motor barrel screws (3) for Bunn Special

Hi,

I am looking for a balance hairspring for a grade 58 Elgin. The hairspring part no. is 793. I'm not sure of equivalents for this grade, but if someone has an extra that they can part with, or can direct me to where I can obtain one, it would be much appreciated. The Elgin serial no. is 141433.

Thanks,
Rick

I could use a 14 size gold filled hunting case. It wouldn't matter if it's missing the stem + crown.

WTB Seiko Monaco Automatic Chronograph Dial

In needed of a dial for a Seiko Monaco (17 jewel) Chronograph Automatic Model# 7016-5011, most of the 5,000 series will fit. These dials a square shape. Just about resigned to take any colour, also will take a complete parts watch if you do not want to separate the dial.
Best Regards

Re: need jewels

Juggernaut, you would need to provide the entire serial number and possibly the pivot size on the balance arm to help you as the pivots go from 8-14 and there may have been changes to the parts over time. Pictures of the movement also help immensely.

I need am Elgin ladies 617 movement with a good balance or a complete balance for that movement.
This is for a family member and quite important. I would be more than glad to pay you for the part.
There is a lot of older small ladies watches and movements out there and hoping someone can help. Thanks

In need of a couple of setting levers for a 18s Elgin Model 7 Open face, Elgin Part#1830. Will take the complete setting assembly if you do not want to part with just the levers, or the complete parts movements, thank you.

Bila,
I have plenty of the set levers if you can clear up some confusion. In Swigart's the illustration looks funny compared with an actual lever. 305920.jpg 305921.jpg 305922.jpg

Thanks for the reply Jim, the one you have shown from the Swigart book marked 1830 is the correct one and picture is correct. Like you I have a lot of the others you have shown, these are for two different Hunting models, the ones with the hole lower down on the leg are Elgin part#114 and the ones without are Elgin part#48. The Part#1830 is pretty much used only on the Model 7, Class 65 & 66 from memory.

Cheers,
Bila

Jim,
The #823 is for the early 10-size movements. Not an easy spring to find.
Dave,
In the Elgin Material cabinets that I have the bottom 2 drawers have MS's and the part numbers start at 278 and go thru 300.
I have a box of 10s springs, part # 300E and on the box it says .0067 thick & .065 wide.

Jim,
Those are 'compartment numbers'. There should be a card that translates compartment numbers to 'part numbers'. One compartment may have more than one part number in it. The springs in 300E I believe are the more modern 10S. I'm not at home right now so not sure if there is another spring that would substitute for the #823. I'll look later.

Bila,
Swigart does not even list this spring, nor can I find any specs on it in my Elgin materials. Can you give the measurements and end type? Maybe something else substitutes? Or, maybe you've already gone down this route?

Hi Dave & Jim,

Thank you very much for your responses, apparently pretty hard spring to substitute, I found a slightly later number (I think) Elgin part#2326. I am pretty sure that no other makers will be much use due to the hole and bayonet end type for hooking to the side and top of the barrel, not unless the barrel is modified to accept a tee-end spring. This I am reluctant to do but judging by the rarity of the correct spring all of us that have these models just might have to do the irreversible modification. The only other option will be to sit down and make new ends and rivet them on:confused:
