Re: Need Bulova Accutron Crystal #1439
Thank you for the reply! You have indeed correctly ID'ed the case and your measurements of the bezel are consistent with mine.
This morning I found this crystal source on Ebay, where I can select one listed as "GS PHD 33 1/2 (33.9mm)"
Is this the same crystal you used? $5.49 is pretty reasonable so, if yes, I'll order one straight away!

A little more back story and another question (apologies if I ramble on too much):
The crystal that came with the watch was not installed when it arrived (the watch was sold "as is / for parts" and still a good deal despite the issues I've had so far). Thinking the crystal simply needed to be reinstalled, I used my bulova crystal press and put it back in. Sadly it fell out with a gentle touch. My thinking is that someone intended to replace the crystal but obtained one that was too small. The largest diameter (at the base of the flange) of this crystal is 33.2. You have confirmed for me that the flange needs to be a bit larger in diameter, but I wasn't sure how much larger it needed to be, until now
Question: As you know, this case has a wide chapter ring with black hour markings on it. This part was also loose when the watch was received. I'm a little confused by how it is to be secured to the bezel. The ring, when in place, makes the bezel very shallow, leaving only a little room for the crystal - and so I imagine that less of the bezel will be holding the crystal than in other more ordinary cases. Is this consistent with your experience? I was wondering if the genuine bulova crystal was somehow thin enough at the edge to slide between the bezel and chapter ring (rather than on top) and thus sit deeper, but it would have to be very thin for this work I think.
At the moment, I'm thinking of adding a few drops of GS crystal cement to keep the chapter ring in place and a few drops for added security for the crystal.
Thank you again for your comments!
