• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

Can someone help identify the maker? It has Waltham dial and indicated England. I think it is considered a Doctors watch.

Hi Bobby P,

It looks to me like a Waltham chronograph. The 'England' is a reference to the patent being registered in this country as well as the USA, and doesn't imply that it was made here.

Regards,

Graham

It is indeed a Waltham Hillside 14 Size movement with added chronograph complication. This complication was added to the 1874 and 1884 Hillside models; yours is the 1874 Model with 15 jewels and was made c1880. If you want more information I would ask a moderator to move this to the American Watch forum.

What a beautiful piece. I should imagine it was a costly investment back in the day.

Jay.

Nice watch, great chance it is a 16 Jewel model, be interesting to find out when and if you get it serviced.

The Grey Book says it is 15 jewels :emoji_wink:. I should have said previously the chronograph parts are to Lugrin's Patent some detail of which can be found 'here'.

I have a sneaky suspicion that the grey book is wrong, like I said will be interesting to find out when serviced.
