Not Self Starting

    I bought a Sessions dual face 'world time' clock that is not self-starting. The not self-starting part is new. Should the clock and motor be cleaned, serviced like other electrics, or is there something special to know about the self starting piece before attempting repair?

    Lorie...could we get a photo of this ?? Email to me and I will post..I think the self-starting motors began in the 1930's...
    How is the "not self-starting" part new ??
