Hi, I will not be doing much on Pocket Watches for about 10 days or until construction work ends. The Government have in their wisdom decided to spend AU$69 million to boost the building and construction business. Where I live is Government owned and I only pay AU$68 per week rent; just across the way in the private rental section a similar Unit costs AU$450 a week plus rates. The construction work starts in 2 days and I am being sent to a Hotel by the Government who pays all costs. I got permission to go back at night to look after plants etc. and to make sure that my Pocket Watches are safe. The two Hotels are very close to my Club so it will not be hard to guess where I will be. I suppose I will just have to tough it out. Regards Ray

Hi, as a matter of interest I would prefer Rydges Hotel as I have stayed there before when I won a prize at the Club which is next door. The prize was a Luxury room for 2 and AU$100 booze and food money totalling AU$350. Regards Ray

Ray, back in the day, I'd hit the pool after a shower and bring my ice bucket, a towel
and a tube of Sun Tan lotion (not for me). So buy you a tube of Sun Tan lotion.

    That's like $210 USD a month.
    Wow! Quite a deal.
I pay more than that for a night in San Francisco.

Hi Tom, there are a lot of no-hopers who paint stupid things on buildings. It will be removed. The Greek owned building Company started a day early on Block 1 which will be finished in 9 Days. Block 2 where I live will be started in 2 days and finished in 9 Days . I was talking to the owner of the building Co. and he told me he has 45 men on the job. This is for MartinM, it is the best place in Australia for an Old Age Pensioner to live; the Government really looks after you with free Bus fares and low rental and approx. half price electricity. The photo was taken in half light when they started real early. Regards Ray

Hi, I thought that I would be in a Broom Cupboard with a Bed; I could not have been more wrong; I fell on my feet as usual. I ended up in a luxury suite with everything. It is bigger than my Unit I live in. Regards Ray

Hi, it did not take long for the glamor to wear off re. the nice Hotel Apartment; all I can do is go to the Pub or Club. I do not sleep well in other places than Home. I am bored and all my work on Pocket Watches is at my Unit. I am going to the Unit this morning to pick up a movement that I am returning to the Seller for a refund because of wrong description; broken Seconds Pivot; described as all Pivots are OK in the description. I can't wait to get back Home. I will bring some tools back to the Hotel and do some minor work on a movement on the Hotel Balcony. Regards Ray

Hi, all the Greek Contractor-Builders who have been working on my Unit have knocked off to celebrate Glenti; a Greek Festival. The large Man, Harry a friend in the photo at the top, teaches Greek Dancing. Regards Ray No cookies | NT News

Hi, I had my first nights proper sleep last night approx. 8 hours; I slept at Home. For some reason when in the Hotel I keep waking up approx. every 2 hours. I went to my local GP yesterday and the Doctor told me everything is OK so I will still be around for a while to post on the Forum. At the moment the Builders are AWOL until Tuesday; Public Holiday today. I will alternate between Home at Night and Hotel during the Day when work is being done. I will have to do a very big clean-up of the Unit, everything is covered in dust that has come in through the Louvre Windows. Regards Ray

Hi, since I got back from the Hotel that I was staying in and found a light coating of dust over everything (came in the louvre windows from the Builders when roof removed) I have had stinging eyes and a runny nose (described by Doctor as Dust mite allergy). It has made working on Pocket Watches impossible. It is slowly getting better. Regards Ray
