we found a cool watch when we were safe surfing today. cool watch made for the American market so I thought I would share it here. Has some kind of a compensated balance or an attempt to make a balance look compensated. And a really killer dial. It's not a transfer dial its original. American speed.

Cool dial. And the balance wheel treatment is one I haven't seen before. Somehow it reminds me of a Swiss (?) made 3/4 plate I have that is marked "Railway Timekeeper" and "T.F. Cooper, Liverpool". However, mine does not have a cool train engine on the dial. It is in a base metal hunter case that has that rather thin bezel on it like yours. The case has a small marking of a "G. Roulet", FWIW.

That's exactly what it is, just a bit of cosmetic tarting up, no more, no less.

About the balance. It looks like the blue sections are treppaned into the wheel face (grooves) and the effect was created by blueing and then polishing the areas that were not trepanned? The trepanned recesses would stay blue.

Today we would make the channels with an end mill and rotary table.
