I just fixed my late dad's watch and was telling my neighbour about it. (He was a good friend to my Dad)
He asked me if I would take a look at the Rolex his late wife had bought for him on their last trip abroad, to Lanzarote, Canary Isles. He knew it was a fake, the local watch repairer had said he wouldn't touch it.
Thing is, it has great sentimental value and he wants it fixed. So I said I would take a look.
The winder stem has rusted and snapped. So much for Chinese 'oyster' crowns!
But it's Reg's favourite watch, it reminds him of his dear departed Sally, and to be fair, it has quite a good automatic movement with lots of jewels (I haven't counted them) and incabloc on the balance. So a fairly decent watch in its own right and goes strongly so it's worth repairing. I won't be asking for payment, Reg was my Dad's best friend.
I've looked all over the movement but can't find any markings so I have no way to identify it and find the right stem for it.
Can anyone on here offer any advice? 16793138633333412162371047631852.jpg
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Roughbarked-
I'm sure you're right. I have managed to dig out the broken stem, so now at least I have something to measure up. And I found someone on fleabay who offers a choice of several different types. I'll see if he has the right one. Wish me luck...!

Looks like a complete movement sells for less than $15usd on everyone's favorite online auction site. Stem included.

I've even seen them done up in a "rolex" color scheme..

Also I didn't see where he said that the crown was missing. Only that the stem had snapped.

Eyup chaps. I found the right stem and a fake Rolex crown with it's screw-down tube on eBay. The old stem had snapped flush with the crown so it wasn't coming out.
It all looked exactly like the original, minus the wear, and all went together nice and easy. Reg is a happy bunny.
Thanks again for your help, guys. On to the next one! It's a Poljot 2614.2h in a Sekonda.

The old stem had snapped flush with the crown so it wasn't coming out.

The remainder of the stem should dissapear after a few days in a saturated alum solution. Depending on the material of the crown, it too may dissapear but most often it does not. Worth trying before you throw it away.

On most fake rolexes, the crown would probably go first. Lol
