Hi Guys

I finally did the Wuba Clock movement replacement, i discovered it was a 1 day Regula 35 that was modified, so was able to get a new 35, and then just removed and added etc to get back to what I was replacing.

It runs perfect, bell at top has a lovely ring, issue, it tuns too fast, I cant get it to slow down, over a 12 hr period, its about 1.5 hours ahead, I have adjusted the original Wuba Pendulum all the way down, and its not helping, it also calls for the chime five minutes after the hour, unsure if this is all connected or not, but thought I would add that

I have not had this issue before, and wonder if I am missing something on the time side??, the old identical movement had kept time before it kicked the bucket so to speak

The only change I made was in the weights, I removed the plum weights and rollers that it had came with and replaced it with one day cuckoo weights, but this is what all those movements call for, so don't think that's the issue

Any help would be appreciated

Thx and Happy New Year

The Black Forest Imports catalog shows two pendulum lengths available for a Regula 35. Those are 28.5cm=11 ¼" and 20.5cm=8 1/16". There is a note in the catalog: "Note: It is necessary to change the escape wheel yourself. Please order AM35 and AEW35Sin order to obtain the 20.5cm pendulum length." The difference between these two in pendulum length is about .31875 inches

On Regula movements the pendulum length is measured from the suspension post to the center of the leaf on the pendulum.

Could you have started with the shorter pendulum length movement and ended with the longer one?

Have you measured or counted the BPH? As an estimate, (from Goodrich tables), a pendulum with a length of 20.64 cm has a BPH of 7900. A pendulum with a length of 28.69 cm has a BPH of 6700 BPH.

As to your hand orientation: If the movement has the standard Regula hands, you should be able to change the orientation of the hand vs. the washer with the square hole. It is common for the hand to bond to that washer with age.

Good Luck,

Dick

Thx, I will look at the escape wheel from old movement vs new movement, nothing other than the new movement changed, so it could be that, I bought from Perrins in Canada and there is nothing written over the escape wheel.

The pendulum is a weight of sorts, its a cast man on a horse that Wuba made for these clocks, I have the weight at the bottom of pendulum, and cant go any farther, maybe I should start back up??

Probably the best way to fix this is to make the pendulum longer, if the case allows enough room for it. Or rebuild the original movement.

Is this a wall clock? If so, you might have the option of simply making a longer pendulum rod.

A slight decimal point error. It should have been 3.1875 inches.
In any case, either the tooth count is wrong, on the wheel or
the pinion of the escapement. If it is the clock I'm thinking,
3 inches will be a lot.

Is this one of those with the little pendulum window that requires the pendulum to swing there in order to look right? If so, I think I'd order the shorter length 35 and see how that works. I know some of those later models did use modified Cuckoo movements.

That is the clock!!, and yes it attaches right to the swing arm etc, different than regular cuckoo pendulum

The movement was the exact measurements etc of old, i do wonder about taking out again and checking tooth counts etc, it has to be something, i will report back, i see Perrins actually sell the correct Pendulum for it if I require it
