Date code on front 12 of1914Hi! Just bought this E Ingraham movement to scavenge for parts. But noticed it has an external escapement which I have not seen before. Is it an older style? What can members tell me about it please? Thanks View attachment 754734
Thanks for your swift reply. No I am referring to the escape wheel at the top of the movement. I assume the pallets sit in the clip looking thing which holds it in place. When you say “external escapement,” are you referring to the thumb wheel that is used to regulate the time slower or faster? That was patented in the 1880’s and was used until about 1920.
The movement below is much earlier than yours, but the principle is the same vis-a-vis the pallets. Thanks for your swift reply. No I am referring to the escape wheel at the top of the movement. I assume the pallets sit in the clip looking thing which holds it in place.
