Does anyone know when New York Standard Watch Co. started selling wristwatches for men?

Thanks,

Greg

Hi Greg, I seen a pic of one in the Guidebook and it looks like a converted pocketwatch, so I'm guessing around the World War I era (1914-1918). Like most of the other watch companies that started making wristwatches.

New York Standard produced its first pocket watch in 1885.

Greg here is something interesting, which leads you on the quest.

Thanks for the info. The British website was interesting. However, I thought that NYS sold watches already in/cases? There is an antique looking catalog image in one of my price guides which appears to be a NYS wirelug wristwatch for sale in the case w/strap, but the old illustration was reproduced without a date.

Best regards,

Greg

Greg,

They probably did. However, thats part of the quest, just like the New Guinea watch, we discussed.
