    Hi Folks:

Has anyone read the new book by Roy Ehrhardt & Joe DeMesy, "Vintage American Pocket Watches, Dials, and Cases"?

    http://www.hoapress.com/pwdesc.htm

I'd be interested in your opinions; tempted to spring for the color version but, at $75.00, I'd like at least a review first ;)

Roy Ehrhardt has done a great service to the watch collecting world.

He has his destractors...and Joe has PLENTY of distractor, but every book that Roy does, brings in more collectors.

(and yes, the printing quality of those books is just awful.)

I would vote to save your $75 on this one. I have looked it over and in short order have found over 40 errors. Mostly in descriptions not matching movements and wrong pages of information captioned with the wrong watch.

It looks as if it was thrown together to make a quick dollar, without any editing or proof reading.

One of the great disservices that someone can do to Horology and collecting is to publish WRONG information. You can't convince someone who has read bad information that he is wrong or misinformed.
