found this in downtown Kaiserslautern today and hoping you can help fill in some pieces as to what exactly it is. It states Remontoir 10 Rubis on the case and also states Argent and 14916. On the mechanism it has a lion and states Avance Retard which I guess means faster/slower. Any help?
You have a 0.800 fine silver (argent) cylinder, pin set, escapement watch of a type that was made in large quantities in the 1880 to 1905 time frame. The inner cover is not silver. These were made as "cottage industries" made by different people making parts, assembling, finishing and marketing, so a specific manufacturer really doesn't exist. They were of low to medium quality (yours is one of the better ones).
