I've been working on a New Haven Banjo clock Movement. The gear that drives the count wheel on the strike side is cracked and is slipping. I don't think there is a replacement I can get. What would be the proper way to repair that gear. It is a press fit.

You can always drill and pin the gear in place and use no solder at all.Pin one side and then close the crack and pin the other side.Use brass pins and stake them down and file off the ends for clearance.

Buy yourself some pivot wirer,an assortment will work just fine.Dill the holes just under .001 to the drill size.Make sure your drills are very sharp, or the hole will be bigger than you desirer. You can allso buy brass wirer allso and repeat the same steps.Size your hole so that is dose not hit the teeth .You want it to be in the center of the teeth. You may want to consider using a center drill allso.Drill can be as small as .070..Only drill one side ,not all the way through.Plus I would use brass stock, so you can stake it slightly.
