• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

My family is restoring an inherited Wignall-Ormskirk grandfather clock. The supplemental mechanical works listed above are missing. The clock repair man in OH and Astrid Donnellan of MA (clock face restoration) suggested we find old or reproduction mechanical work, for the items listed above. We called Merritt's and they said they couldn't help us. Our understanding is that the clock is too old to find these parts. Can anyone direct us? (I can send a full picture of the clock too if that would help). Thanks (PS We need the mechanical works that accompany these 3 hands. We have the hands and mechanical works with the main hands, hour and minutes). Modern reproductions are fine as well.

Yes, more pictures are always great! Take a look at this thread, especially post #9. Are these the parts that you need?

Measurements are also great to have. Here's a set of hands at Timesavers that includes a second hand that looks a lot like your date hand.

Best of luck getting your clock back up to speed!
Thank you! (I am new to this......I only see your note.....not a thread including a #9 post as noted above. Any tips on reading this ? (-: I'm afraid I'm missing lots of good info. It sounds like it might be possible to find mechanical works for the hands? I will post a full picture.

You just click on the blue text to go to the links. (Well, they're blue on my monitor...)

When more board members see the movement and the back of the dial, you'll get more input on what's needed. A lot of these clocks had handmade parts that were unique to each clock but there are people out there that can replicate them.

I will add measurements soon. As well as a picture of the back of the dial. Hopefully someone can send us in the right direction (-: We'd love to see this clock fully working! Thanks everyone .

Beautiful clock! It really looks like it's pretty complete. The moon phase looks good to me - it moves via the ratchet wheel on the back of the dial. I believe the movement gives it a nudge now and then to rotate it.
I think we could get experts in this type of clock to chime in if the thread could be moved to "Clock Repair". "Parts Wanted" isn't looked at as much. You just click the REPORT button at the bottom of this post and request that it be moved. The moderator might agree and move it.
