Hi guys. This is a bit different from the Westminster movements I’m used to, and I’m having trouble timing the quarter and hour chimes. The quarter chimes seem to run the full length (as it should on the hour) each quarter. It does put the hour chime into warning but sometimes the two trains run together.

Can someone lend on hand on how this setup works or point me to a good guide on timing the chimes?

Fixed it with a few adjustments of the chime lock plate. Certainly not much fun when it’s between the plates rather than outside the plates!

This is how all of the old Gustav Becker chime movements were designed. The chimes do just as you described if anything gets out of alignment.
Gustav Becker never tried any modernized layouts with the chime lock plate on the front plate until 1926 with the introduction of the miniature 'Mignon' movement.

This movement certainly challenged me! But it was a lot of fun learning about in the process!

Heifetz17 cab you describe where between the plates the chime lock plate is located and how you fixed it. I am having the same problem as described in "Gustav Becker Mantle Clock Chime train Not Operating Properly" posting.
