I have part of a clock case and the unmarked movement. It is compounded weight driven with a sweep second hand and is time only. The length is 43 inches, the width is 14 inches. The parts of the case are made of walnut. I would like to identify the maker and possibly find out what the case should look like if complete.
Attached are some pics of it.

WOW!
. . . . . . . .and a centre sweep seconds hand! I am certain it must be German. Grid pendulums not too common with weight movement but see no reason to think not original. Does the anchor have adjustable pallets? That could mean a little newer. All in all, a VERY nice find. Is there a dial? Hands? I see a very simple base piece to match the simplicity of the case. Are there holes for finials or splat atop? I just don't see this case having finials.

hello Markus,

is it French??
May be you will get some information with a picture of the backplate of the movement.

Interesting clock. As Albra says a photo of the backplate would help in identifying. To me the moon hands suggest it is maybe not German and the 3rd hand looks more like the sort you see on American movements. Maybe would have had finials either side on the top and fairly plain cushion base.

The movement has maintaining power and the pallets are non adjustable.. The top has one 1/2 hole on the top for something but appears way to large for a finial. The sides of the case are also walnut with glass . The dial is convex porcelain with a brass bezel.
attached is another shot of the movement.I'll have to get it off the test stand to get a full back view.

It looks like a George Jones to me. Chris Radano has one and will verify, when he comes along...

Yeah; I noticed that about the style of hands - also now, from the side, movement looks very American - almost banjo-ish.

It's American.... New York. You might find a picture of Chris's in one of the thread's.

Markus, are their any serial numbers on the movement and pendulum?

There are no serial numbers or marks of any kind on the movement or pendulum. Any Ideas where I may locate various pics of his clock case designs?

After seeing Chris's clock again, I'm not as confident on what the clock is.

Chris is right, they had movement variants.

Maybe Jim Krause will drop in....

The movement of Markus' is more compact configuration, but the case looks like G. Jones. Markus' is sans door, where applied carvings would shape the top/bottom.

Markus, if you want private message me with your email. I can send more photos.

Chris- you used the term " sans door"- tell me more. I also noticed that your movement back plates screw on. Mine pins from the front.
