I have a Hamilton 970 which has incorrect winding and setting parts. The squared shaft on which the winding and setting gears slide doesn't fit at all. Also, half of the headless retaining screw that retains the stem is broken off. Given that the 970 is not a common watch, finding a parts movement seems unlikely. Are there any more common models that have compatible parts?
    Thanks,
    Dave

I don't think I have the same format, or I'm looking in the wrong place. I can see your profile page but no "start a conversation" or "member since" or similar.
This watch is the one I bought from you at Wilmington.
I see that the squared shaft is long enough to sit in the pillar plate so it's properly supported at both ends but the sliding gears take up too much of the shaft length, and the inner pivot on the squared shaft is covered by the setting gear.
What other information can I give you?

That is not a detent stem Hamilton System. It is a regular clutch stem system. You may need a spring that goes in the grove of the clutch in the 1st picture
