I have a United Clock Company "fireplace" clock, as shown below. The motor runs fine but the train does not move. You can see that an extension runs the color wheel which creates the flickering flame effect in the fireplace. This will turn intermittently.
I am surmising that the cheap fiber gears used in this vintage and type of clock are stripped. My intent is to try to fabricate new ones out of resin. However that intent is blocked by the fact I can't get the movement out of the case. Moving the whole thing to the right, the color wheel is just a hair too big to clear the narrow part in the case. I have tried to remove the color wheel from the shaft, but it seems to be peened on.
Any one wrassle with on of these before? DSC08369.JPG DSC08366.JPG
